There is a myriad of ways that learning to think in a more positive manner can help you start living in the “now”. The very nature of positive thinking lends itself to not waiting for the future or living in the past, but taking advantage of the day you have… today.
Here are three ways to become more positive that may indeed surprise you, as they are not immediately related to being positive. Try them, and we think you’ll see that they help increase your happiness greatly!
- Meditation – Research has proven that those who meditate daily show more positive emotions than those that don’t meditate. Meditation, apparently, does a lot more than simply quiet your mind! The research showed that the group doing daily meditation continued to meditate even after the research was over, and experienced increased mindfulness, life purpose, greater social support, and lessened symptoms of illness. Isn’t that reason enough to give it a go?
- Writing – “Writing?”, you say… yes! A study published in the Journal of Research in Personality tested a group of 90 students, split into two groups. One group wrote about a positive experience every day for three days. The other group wrote about a control topic. Would you believe that three months later, the students who wrote about the positive experience showed elevated moods and fewer illnesses? All of this, after only three days of writing! One has to wonder what the effects would be if you wrote about a positive experience daily, with no time limit! Go buy yourself a special journal that inspires you, and do this experiment on your own – but don’t stop after just three days.
- Playtime – In our busy schedules of meetings, daily, weekly, and monthly events, running errands, and living for weekends, we schedule everything… except time to play. Research has shown that even for adults, playing, experimenting, and exploring help keep you in the here and now, increasing mindfulness and overall happiness. Grab your significant other, children, or best friend, and add time to your busy schedule to simply play!
The benefits of positive emotion simply can’t be overstated. There’s so much good that can come from increasing your positive outlook, and diminishing negativity in your life. You’ll not only be more joyful overall, but you’ll be more present in the wonderful moments you experience every day, day in and day out.

You’re probably doing pretty well in your career. You did well in college, you’ve got a good job, or you’re establishing a business. But there’s something that is stopping you from reaching your peak. You’re not quite where you want to be. Maybe your career trajectory feels like it’s stalled a little or even plateaued.
Have a good look at yourself and see if you’re being held back by one or more of these four big things that commonly stop people from reaching their career peak.
We all do it. Putting off doing mundane or difficult tasks is all too human. But the longer you delay making that phone call or having that tricky conversation, the worse it’s going to get. You know deep down that you should just do it.
The other big area of procrastination is failing to act. How many good ideas have you had, but you haven’t acted on, because you weren’t ready, or you didn’t have the right skills or enough money yet? There will never be the perfect or right time to start a business, launch a project or pitch a new idea. The right time to act is now. And don’t forget: acting on an idea doesn’t mean you leap into the final product straightaway. Acting means doing your research, allocating budget, testing the market.
If you stop procrastinating and start planning, you’ll be ready for success when it comes.
2. Fear of failure
Far of failure stops you from taking risks and seizing opportunities. It can be paralyzing, but only if you let it. And to free yourself from the fear of failure you need to reframe what failure means for you. Failure does not mean disaster. It means you haven’t found out what works yet. Edison famously failed to invent the working light bulb more than a thousand times before he hit on the right formula.
The converse of failure is persistence. And persistence will out-perform innate talent every time.
Staying focused is the key to achieving success. It’s easy to be distracted by side issues and the demands of your email or phone but staying productive requires attention and focus. Make it easier to produce high-quality, consistent work by keeping focused on the current priorities and sticking to your plan.
Self-doubt can undermine all your efforts if you let it. The best thing you can do to build your confidence is to stop comparing yourself to others. Your success story is totally up to you. Look back, see all the stepping stones that brought you to where you are now. You have the skills, and you have the know-how to get where you want to go.
You have to reach down and dig deep to find the strength to keep pushing!
Do Not Let This Happen To You
God is always speaking to us but most of us ignore it, just not paying attention, or don’t know the signs. So let me start by asking, how many times have you made a decision and then decided to change your mind about what you first thought? You always wind up saying ” I knew I should have gone with my first mind/thought/feelings” or Even saying “I should have gone with my gut”. I have said this and witnessed others say it for years but until I knew what those feelings were, I was ignorantly ignoring that vital information that God has given me.
It’s like we have our own personal built-in GPS! The key to mastering your personal GPS is having Belief and Faith. Belief in what God is telling us through the energy that is around us and through us, speaking to Us constantly and Faith in ourselves, our abilities and our own ” God-given talents”. Our talents and dreams are within us. God has already done her part! Our belief in ourselves is what activates the power of God to move on our behalf.
“Be careful how you are talking to yourself because you are listening”.
– Lisa Hayes
God is a Loving God and has given us access to everything that we need. Our faith determines if it will be manifested instantly, three minutes, three hours, three days, three months, or three years! We easily began to doubt ourselves thanks to the negative self-talk of our ego whispering sweet nothings throughout our minds. This creates self-doubt, which can debilitate us with fear. Most of us die with our dreams and talents still within us. The cemetery is of the richest places in the world. Want to know why? So many million dollar dreams buried and lost forever.
Don’t let your Dreams Die Inside of You-Wayne Dyer
